Busy, busy, busy!

It's been over a month since I've posted anything here, which is really not great for me. It kinda undercuts the purpose of actually using this thing. So here are the big updates:

1.) Gamer Chick is rockin' & rollin'. Principal photography is more than halfway done - not bad considering we have to sneak our shoots in when everyone is available and we can get enough volunteers. Episode 7 is entirely shot, and many other episodes are a scene or two away from being ready for post. It's a very exciting time for us Gamer Chick folk, especially because we'll be premiering at Gen Con in Indianapolis this year, so if you'll be down there, look us up! I may or may not be attending, but the ladies certainly will be there.

2.) I had to drop a class this semester due to some pretty serious time issues, but it's for the best. I can finally feel like I'm a part of my other classes, and I feel like I'm finally doing my own stuff this term, so my reel is already thanking me. :) Incidentally, here's a rough version of my final project for VFX2...

Clearly, it is an unfinished bit of work. The final shot will include some weather effects, particle simulations, a bit of lightning, and some heat distortion around the actress. I'll post progress as I make significant strides toward completion.

3.) I've also started writing the pilot for Romeo's Foe Studios' new web series, "Flint Steele." It's loosely based on a character we created for a live faux-radio show we performed for a couple years. It also will include some characters and pieces we had originally created for other ideas and projects, but it seems like they all fit in this particular puzzle. I'm excited to see where it goes. The pilot will likely be three episodes worth of story, most likely released as three episodes rather than one fifteen-minute video. I'll post more about this project as it evolves.

That's it for now - and really, isn't it enough? - so I'm going to get some of this footage logged from our Gamer Chick shoot today. It'll be so nice when we can work with a crew that includes more than five people, especially if I'm not the only one who knows anything about post production... Wish me luck! :)

A little update on what I've been up to...

So the past few weeks have been awfully busy, but projects are moving along quite nicely. School has started back up since my last update, and we're doing some pretty cool stuff this term. I'll try to post some WIP's as I remember to do so.

Our web series - Gamer Chick (find it on Facebook, and @gamerchickshow on Twitter!) - is moving along nicely. We haven't gotten into any of the required post-production work yet, but the sequences that will require the bulk of it won't be shot until the weather finally warms up for the season.

More updates soon! I promise this time.

Some new opportunities

We had a really great meeting last night, first for a project that starts shooting tomorrow, and next for a pet project of mine that may finally come into being. I got a chance to bounce ideas with a couple really great idea-smiths, and my new project is really taking shape. That's pretty exciting.

Also, it looks like I may be working on a music video soon. Probably shooting and post-production, from the sound of things, but that suits me just fine. I'll be looking at preliminary storyboards pretty soon, and then it's likely just a matter of scheduling the shoot. Doesn't look to be particularly complicated, but it will put my skills to use. I'll write up more on that as it comes in.

Busy, busy, busy...

Since my last update, I've been wrapped up in school very tightly. My day job is not as demanding as it could be, so I thank my luck stars for that.

School is making up for it.

I've got a rotoscoping class, and that has "elbow grease" written all over it. I also have an Intro to Digital Compositing class (which probably should be a prerequisite for a couple classes I've already taken), and that's not so bad. I haven't had an assignment in that one yet that took me longer than 20 minutes to complete. I know it's only my fifth week in, but I remain confident and hopeful...

I also have an English composition class - Narrative Storytelling - that is pretty darn remedial, so it makes it really hard for me to concentrate on it enough to give it the attention it needs so I can pass. That alone should be enough to scare me into putting more time into it. Let's see if it works.

On the production front, Romeo's Foe Studios recently had its first pre-production meeting for "Gamer Chick," and it looks to be a lot of fun. I'll be directing, shooting, and doing most (read: all) of the post-production work as well. It will be lots of work, but it promises to be a cool project to be attached to.

Overload

So I don't know if I'm going to have time to work on the Star Wars fan film. I'm still attempting, but I've since gone back to the day job, and my semester starts in about a week.

I'm crossing my fingers that I can find a way to get it all done, but I'm also directing a feature that needs to be in production already, and I'm writing/directing a web series that is set to start as soon as we get the thing cast.

Oh, and I'm also directing my wife's web series. That's another project.

It's looking more and more like the fan film is not going to happen. We'll see...

Slowly I turn(over)...

I haven't had time to work on any of my own shots lately, seeing as how I've been in a fight with my SW:TF assignment, and I've also been called back to my day job.

Those long workin' nights have been put on hold, so I finish whatever I can between getting home and collapsing in a heap for the night.

On the plus side, I believe I've found the proper outlet for the new web series I'm directing. More on that soon.

It's official...

I got my first shot assignment for "Star Wars: The Forgotten" today. Crossing my fingers. Wish me luck...
